Penthouse Makeover

It’s rare that an architect gets to revisit a project, but so it was with this Riverside Drive Penthouse which Siris/Coombs Architects built in 1998. The new owners, a family with young children, a different life style and tastes, hired our firm to makeover the space to suit them.

It’s a wonderful mix of clean lines and the grace of the art nouveau inspired original renovation.

The original plan, modern in concept, needed structural modification of the existing stair connecting to in-law apartment. Lighting, baths, kitchen, built-ins were updated to clean and contemporary lines, while incorporating the rich design of the original doors, trim, main stair, and floors. The renovated project was recently published by Architectural Digest.
